SVIN25 Annual Meeting - November 20-22, 2024

FACULTY Resources

Thank you for serving as faculty for the SVIN 2025 Annual Meeting!

This site is designed to provide you with all the information you need about your speaking engagement, deadlines, and ways to promote your session.

Please check back, as more information will be added as we get closer to the meeting.

General Guidelines

SVIN requires that all of its speakers and moderators comply with the ACCME Standards of Commercial Support of CME. Disclose any RELEVANT financial interest or relationship that you and/or your spouse may have with any commercial supporter of the activity or the manufacturer(s) of any commercial interest that is discussed as part of your session.

ACCME definition of relevant relationship: relationships with a commercial interest (rights, consulting fee, honoraria, ownership in stock, etc.) IF the products or services of the commercial interest are related to the content of the educational activity that you are presenting.

All materials for invited sessions must be uploaded through the SVIN Portal. You will receive an email once this is available, and it will be added here for you to login.

If you need assistance with your login username/password or upload, please contact our SVIN Support Team at SVIN@support.ctimeetingtech.com.

Speaker Guidelines

  • All presenters are required to verbally state and indicate in writing on their first slide whether they have any relevant disclosures at the beginning of each presentation.
  • Presentations must be independent, objective, scientifically rigorous, and free of bias. Use only evidence-based sources accepted by the medical community, and ensure all patient care recommendations align with established standards.
    • Maintain balance when discussing therapeutic options. Use generic names whenever possible; if trade names are used, include several companies. Present product data objectively, including fair comparisons to alternatives.
    • Disclose any discussion of unlabeled or investigational product uses during the presentation.
  • Slide Preparation:
    • First slide MUST be the financial disclosure slide.
    • Slides should be no more than 7 lines.
    • Use fonts that are large enough to be legible from the back of room.
    • Colors should make viewing easier (avoid light fonts and dark slides).
    • Add abbreviated citations on each relevant slide (author, year), with a complete APA style reference list on the last slide.
    • All videos must be embedded into the presentation to play properly.
    • All graphics used in the presentation that you do not own must be cited and receive copyright permission for use.
    • Slides will NOT contain any patient names or identifying information.
    • Prior to the session, speakers are urged to review their slides for material that may be offensive to some of our members on the basis of gender, body images, group caricatures or grammatical errors. NO OFFENSIVE MATERIAL WILL BE TOLERATED.
  • Please ensure you do not go over on time. Speakers will be given a two-minute warning prior to the scheduled end of their presentation, and they are expected to conclude without exceeding more than one minute of overtime.

Moderator Guidelines

  • Moderators should prepare focused questions, foster interaction, and encourage audience participation to keep the session engaging.
  • Moderators may address perceived commercial bias, noting if it was undeclared and unapproved by SVIN. They should also prevent audience members from sharing commercial content.
  • Begin and end the meeting session on time.
  • Announce the speaker’s name, institution, and the title of the talk.
  • Time the speakers and give a warning by lights or signify “time to summarize please” at the end of the speaker’s allotted time.  Presentations will be stopped if over by more than 60 seconds.
  • Be sure all discussants use the microphone.
  • If there are problems with the meeting room, alert a SVIN staff member.
  • If there is inappropriate discussion or advertising, moderators should halt that type of discussion.
  • Remind the attendees to fill out their critiques about the session—announce this at the beginning and end of the session.

Presentations:

  • Download our SVIN 2025 Annual Meeting Powerpoint Template (coming soon). Please use this template for your presentation to create a cohesive effect.
  • Your disclosed information will be posted on the SVIN website before the meeting. All presenters must also include a meaningful disclosure slide at the start of their presentation.
  • If you update your presentation after the deadline or miss uploading it, bring your PowerPoint on a USB and upload it in the Speaker Ready Room at least 60 minutes before your session.
  • Speakers and sessions will be critiqued on the following:
    • How well did the speaker follow the allotted in the program?
    • Was the presentation free of commercial bias?
    • Do you think the session helped close the practice gaps on the topic?
