SVIN's statement regarding recent tragic events and a call for volunteers to serve on the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Taskforce

SVIN is deeply saddened by the events that have transpired surrounding the tragic death of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery. These acts of racism are reminders of the plight African-Americans have faced throughout history and still face today.

At SVIN, we stand together to fight the inequities and disparities of health care around us and in the patients we serve. SVIN’s founder built our society more than a decade ago on the foundations of diversity, equality, and opportunity. We remain committed to preserve these core values in the care of our most vulnerable and socially marginalized patients.

We would like to call on volunteers to form the SVIN Diversity, Equity & Inclusion task force. We seek your ideas on what we can do as an organization to address the disparities of health care in African Americans, address our unconscious biases, and provide equal opportunity for our members and trainees. If you are interested in participating, please contact

We will not forget our American history or the tragedies faced by our African American brothers and sisters. We march with you.

Our work in this space will never be done.
