Honors and Awards

Honors and Awards

The SVIN issues awards to recognize the achievements and innovations of individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the field of Vascular and Interventional Neurology. The categories include Innovation, Pioneering, and Distinguished Service. The criteria are as below.

Distinguished Service Award (Previously called Honorary Award)

Criteria: Given at the discretion of the Board to those who have provided a sustained and substantial service to the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology.

Process: Each year, the SVIN membership is invited to nominate colleagues within each category. These names are collected and reviewed by the SVIN Exec. The SVIN Board subsequently reviews the list of nominees and votes on an awardee in each category. An individual cannot receive the same award twice.

In 2024, the SVIN board voted that Officers of the Board (i.e. Past-President, President, President-Elect, Treasurer, Secretary) are not eligible for any of the awards during their year of service due to conflict of interest.
