Call for Trainee Travel Grant Applications

The Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology (SVIN) is pleased to offer the Trainee Travel Grant Award for the upcoming 2024 Annual Meeting, which will take place November 20-22, 2024 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina in San Diego, California.

The purpose of the Trainee Travel Grant Award is to offset costs to attend the SVIN Annual Meeting for members who are in training. The award will include a travel reimbursement of up to $750. The grants will be awarded to eligible SVIN members through the application process.  Recipients are responsible for airfare and lodging, and are strongly encouraged to stay at the Sheraton San Diego. Recipients will be required to attend ALL meeting sessions. Fellows will be expected to attend the fellows course, students and residents are exempt.

Award Eligibility

The applicant must meet the following criteria to be considered for this award:

  • Be a current member of SVIN at the time of application.
  • Be in training as a medical student, resident or fellow at the time of application. Priority will be given to fellow-in-training applicants and first-time applicants.
  • Be accepted for an oral or poster abstract presentation at the SVIN 2024 Annual Meeting.
  • Be able to attend the annual meeting in person.
  • The applicant may apply for the travel award with different abstracts, provided that the applicant is the presenting author on each abstract. However, the applicant is eligible to receive only one travel award, even if multiple abstracts are accepted.
  • All applications submitted for this award will be evaluated for scientific merit by the Abstract Review Committee. Notification of the awards will be made in October 2024.

Application Submission

  1. Submit an abstract to the SVIN 2024 Annual Meeting. Abstracts must adhere to the guidelines for submitting abstracts and must be submitted by Friday, September 6, 2024 (new).
     
  2. Indicate your interest in the Trainee Travel Grant at the step of “Award Consideration” during the abstract submission process. Only abstracts submitted with the Trainee Travel Grant designation will be reviewed (new).
     
  3. Upload the following required supporting documents at the step of “Travel Grant Files” by Friday, September 6, 2024 (new).

    - Curriculum vitae, including the education, training, and bibliography of the applicant.

    - Letter of recommendation from the applicant’s mentor or program director. The LOR should include why the applicant should receive the SVIN Trainee Travel Grant and the applicant’s role in the submitted abstract.
     
  4. Only complete applications that include both an abstract and supporting materials (CV and LOR) will be considered.

Application Deadline

  • Abstracts must be submitted by September 6, 2024 at 4:59 PM CT (new deadline).
