| Title: | Transarterial coil embolization of periophthalmic left ICA cerebral aneurysm in a 2 year old boy
| Disease: | Traumatic intracranial cerebral aneurysm
| Procedure: | Transarterial coil embolization
| Summary: |
2-year-old boy presented with traumatic intracranial cerebral aneurysm treated with transarterial coil embolization.
| Presentation: | 2-year-old baby boy who presented with subarachnoid hemorrhage and intracranial hemorrhage secondary to TV falling on his head. He was found on head CT scan and CT angiogram to have large dissecting pseudoaneurysm at the left Peri-ophthalmic artery.
| Procedure Detail: | The micro-catheter was positioned into the aneurysm lumen as described above and several GDC, matrix, and Microvention coils were deployed in various consistency and sizes with complete obliteration of the aneurysm lumen and stagnant flow in the inferior portion. The carotid cavernous fistula portion completely occluded after the first coil Intraprocedure superselective left internal carotid artery cerebral angiograms were obtained x 8, and demonstrated progressive occlusion of the aneurysm with contrast admission at the inferior portion of the aneurysm beyond the venous phase which expected to the spontaneously thrombose.
| Follow-Up: | One week follow-up angiograms showed mild residual proximal left ACA/A1 segment vasospasm at its origin with 40-50% stenosis only, this did not require any therapy. Milder narrowing and stenosis at the left MCA with less than 20% stenosis was also noted.
